Mechanics pump out Chickamauga Lock for repairs
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District
July 22, 2016 | 1:59
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is working to inspect and repair Chickamauga Lock at Tennessee River mile 471 in Chattanooga, Tenn. The 60-foot by 360-foot lock at the Tennessee Valley Authority dam is emptied about every five years so maintainers can fix components normally submerged under the water. The work began July 11 and the lock will reopen to commercial and recreation traffic Aug. 11, 2016. (USACE video by Leon Roberts)
