Volunteers pick up tons of trash at Lake Cumberland
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District
Sept. 25, 2021 | 3:17
Video Report: Volunteers picked up tons of trash from the shoreline of Lake Cumberland on National Public Lands Day Sept. 25, 2021. They removed debris, 276 bags of trash, 53 rubber tires, old dock flotation, a metal railing with stairs, and a doghouse. One volunteer even rescued a trapped turtle. The volunteers from local communities took action to help pick up trash on portions of the 1,255 miles of shoreline and hundreds of coves around the reservoir that holds the largest volume of water east of the Mississippi River. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s staff at Lake Cumberland helped coordinate the cleanup effort. (USACE Video by Leon Roberts)
