U.S. armed forces, allies and partners gather to commemorate General George S. Patton Jr., as a part of D-Day 79 celebrations in Nehou, France, June 3, 2023. The ceremony remembered Patton for his heroic contributions during the Allied Invasion of Normandy, which eventually led to the end of World War II. Seventy-nine years later, the bravery and heroism by all Allies during World War II continue to resonate with U.S. forces in Europe – who remain steadfast in their commitment to European allies and partners.
