MQ-9 Over Central New York
174th Attack Wing
Oct. 23, 2016 | 1:58
Syracuse, NY – A remotely piloted MQ-9 Reaper operated by the New York Air National Guard’s 174th Attack Wing flies a routine training mission on October 23, 2016. The Civil Air Patrol provides chase plane operations for the MQ-9, to and from restricted air space, to meet FAA see-and-avoid requirements of remotely piloted aircraft (RPA). In addition to operating combat missions overseas, the 174th Attack Wing trains personnel from the Air National Guard, Reserve, active duty and foreign military to fly and maintain the MQ-9. In Syracuse, the Civil Air Patrol plane will take off before the Reaper and then trail the aircraft until it reaches restricted military air space in northern New York.
