B-Roll Package: High waters in Pittsburgh shut down navigation
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District
April 4, 2024 | 4:50
B-Roll package of flood waters throughout the Pittsburgh region shutting down navigation operations with shots of water overflowing at the Dashields Lock and Dam in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, April 4, 2024.
B-Roll footage also includes shots of reservoirs and flood waters at the Point of Pittsburgh.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District has responded to region-wide flooding by closing down its locks for navigation on the rivers. The Point of Pittsburgh is under water, but the district's 16 flood-reduction reservoirs have kept approximately six feet of water from devastating the city even further.
The Pittsburgh District is working around the clock to manage reservoirs and dams to safeguard life and property. The district's dedicated lock crews will be working throughout the night and early morning to return navigation chambers back into operation as soon as the conditions are safe to do so.
