Ohio and Hungary: Celebrating 30 years together through the State Partnership Program

In 1993, the Department of Defense established the State Partnership Program (SPP), and the Ohio National Guard was paired with the Hungarian Defence Forces as one of the initiative’s first partnerships. This year, the partnership between the OHNG and HDF celebrates its 30-year anniversary. The Ohio-Hungary partnership was developed during a historical period for Hungary, including its membership in NATO. Among the oldest partnerships within the SPP, Ohio and Hungary have conducted hundreds of partnership exchanges, training events and real-world missions, including joint deployments to Afghanistan and Kosovo.
