Why is your unit the best place to work? - Coast Guard Station Ketchikan
U.S. Coast Guard District 17
Aug. 1, 2021 | 1:15
Coast Guard Station Ketchikan members show what it's like to work in one of the 17th Districts units, August 1, 2021.
What we do: "Station Ketchikan is a multi-mission station in the 17th District with a primary focus on ports, waterways, and coastal security (PWCS). Along with PWCS, Station Ketchikan focuses on search and rescue, recreational boating safety, and the enforcement of laws and treaties in the fishing domain," said Petty Officer 1st Class Wilson Usma.
Why it's fulfilling: "Our mission at Station Ketchikan is fulfilling not only because we ensure the safety to the entrance of Alaska but also because we have the privilege to help preserve our beautiful natural resources for generations to come," said Petty Officer 1st Class Wilson Usma.
Why you should work here: "If you want to have a once in a lifetime experience to work or drive boats in a wonderful oasis then come to the astonishing outdoors of Station Ketchikan," said Petty Officer 1st Class Wilson Usma.
What we do for fun: "Station Ketchikan members have the privilege to utilize morale boats to either go site-seeing, whale watching or to do some amazing fishing," said Petty Officer 1st Class Wilson Usma.
Ketchikan’s best-kept secret: "Ketchikan is known to be the Salmon Capital of the world but what most people don’t know is that we also have some of the most fantastic trails in our country. Plus, Halibut fishing is phenomenal," said Petty Officer 1st Class Wilson Usma.
