The Maneuver and Fires Integration Experiment at Fort Sill 2023
24th Theater Public Affairs Support Element
Nov. 2, 2023 | 1:29
U.S. Army Pfc. Samarion Hicks, a public affairs specialist assigned to the 24th Theater Public Affairs Support Element, 1st Armored Division, reports from Fort Sill, Okla., during the annual Maneuver and Fires Integration Experiment, also known as MFIX. The event was held from October 23 through November 2, and it is part of the U.S. Army's overarching effort to remain at the forefront of technological innovation and warfighting ability. (U.S. Army video by Pfc. Samrion Hicks)
The purpose of the event is to learn and test new military capabilities and to validate those capabilities. Established in 2014, MFIX is the primary live experiment spearheaded by the Fires Battle Lab, under the Fires Capabilities Development and Integration Directorate, or Fires CDID, based at Fort Sill, Okla.
Fires CDID, a directorate under Army Future Command, plays a critical role in transforming the U.S. Army by developing initial concepts and requirements for future fires — including air and missile defense, field artillery, and counter-unmanned aerial systems — and refining those ideas through experimentation and capability management.
