Fenty Chinook Interviews
7th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment
April 30, 2012 | 6:34
Few may know that Forward Operating Base Fenty near Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan was the launch point of one of Operation Enduring Freedom's most storied missions, the May 2011 raid that killed 9-11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden. In recognition of the one year anniversary of the raid we talk to a Fenty pilot and flight engineer who operate CH-47F (Chinooks) in the area. Daily 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade pilot, CW2 William Haynes, and flight engineer SGT Peter Tuccio fly in the air space that the Bin Laden raid team used. They talk about what it's like to conduct night missions in rugged conditions. Soundbites include CW2 William Haynes - Chinook Pilot, Co. C., 2-82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Elizabethtown, KY.; SGT. Peter Tuccio - Chinook Flight Engineer, crew member, Co. C., 2-82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, Phoenix, AZ.
