Corey Bafford, Forest Hill, Md., assistant team leader for Civil Affairs Team 3, attached to 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, discusses the current state of Nawa district, Helmand province, Afghanistan, where public programs have been implemented, infrastructure has greatly improved, and control of the area has shifted from local insurgents to legitimate officials from the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in recent years.
