The Bomber Evolution
Airman Magazine
May 4, 2018 | 2:00
Heavy bombers have been part of the war-fighting effort since World War I. As the United States Air Force has evolved, so have it's bombers. They are faster, more efficient, and far safer for the warfighter. To celebrate the rich history of the B-17 Flying Fortress and the May 17th opening of the Memphis Belle exhibit at National Museum of the Air Force, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Ohio, we take a moment to do a quick comparison between the B-17 Flying Fortress and the B-2 Spirit to illustrate the evolution of the bomber.
