Oct. 24: Coalition Strike Destroys Daesh Fighting Positions Near Sinjar, Iraq
Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve
Oct. 24, 2015 | 0:36
A coalition strike destroys a Daesh fighting position near Sinjar, Iraq Oct. 24, 2015, in support of Peshmerga forces. This target was one of 16 Daesh, or Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), fighting positions destroyed that day. Other strikes near Sinjar the same day destroyed an ISIL tactical unit, seven ISIL assembly areas, and an ISIL weapons cache. These strikes were conducted in coordination with the Government of Iraq as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, the operation to eliminate the ISIL terrorist group and the threat they pose to Iraq, Syria, and the wider international community. The destruction of ISIL targets in Syria and Iraq further limits the group's ability to project terror and conduct operations.
