155th Armored Brigade Combat Team
Dec. 9, 2015 | 1:18
The Dixie Thunder Run celebrated it's 10th year anniversary on December 5, 2015. The mission of the Dixie Thunder Run is based on soldiers helping soldiers. The Dixie Thunder Run was created in 2005 by soldiers in the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team deployed to Southern Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III. The idea was to raise money to help soldiers who had suffered loss from Hurricane Katrina. 2006 marks the first year of the Dixie Thunder Run, which brings soldiers, civilians, and veterans together to help raise money to bring relief to soldiers in need. Currently, over $400,000 has been raised and donated to several charities including: Injured 155 BCT "Dixie Thunder" Soldiers, Operation First Response, The Better Life Foundation, & Mississippi, Alabama, & Tennessee Military Emergency Relief Fund.
