171220-N-NJ416-001 INDIAN OCEAN (Dec. 20, 2017) Sailors aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) fire 25mm rounds from a Mark 38 Mod II machine gun system during a live fire exercise on the ship’s weather deck. America, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Asia Pacific region to strengthen partnerships and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
