Arkansas National Guard Covid Vaccine PSA 1
Arkansas National Guard Public Affairs Office
March 5, 2021 | 6:20
Col. Kevin Koehler is our State Surgeon and a family practice physician.
This is the first of three videos that will help us all better understand COVID-19 and the science behind the vaccine.
Future videos will address some specific questions and concerns some of you may have about receiving the vaccine.
Getting vaccinated is one of many steps you can take to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. Protection from COVID-19 is critically important because for some people, it can cause severe illness or death. Widespread vaccination for the coronavirus means that the virus will not infect as many people. This will limit spread through communities.
Stopping a pandemic requires using all the tools available. Vaccines work with your immune system so your body will be ready to fight the virus if you are exposed. Other steps, like masks and social distancing, help reduce your chance of being exposed to the virus or spreading it to others.
The vaccine is certainly an important tool to help us get back to normal as a society, and ensure that our Guard teams are ready to perform any mission we are asked to do.
It is a tool that can help us live up to our motto of Always Ready, Always There.
