Nebraska State Surgeon Reflects on COVID-19 Response Service
Joint Force Headquarters - Nebraska National Guard
May 21, 2020 | 9:48
Nebraska Army National Guard Col. Kevin Reichmuth, state surgeon, reflects on his service supporting Nebraska’s COVID-19 response efforts. Reichmuth enlisted in the Nebraska Army National Guard in February 1990 with the 1-134th Infantry Regiment based out of Columbus, Nebraska. He later reclassed to a combat medic and took a direct commission after starting medical school in 1996. In 2000, Reichmuth transferred to the Wisconsin Army National Guard, but then returned to Nebraska in 2009. Currently, Reichmuth serves in Lincoln, Nebraska with the Medical Detachment as the state surgeon for the Army National Guard. He served on state active duty orders in support of COVID-19 response efforts from April 2020 until transitioning back to his civilian practice as a pulmonary critical care physician at Nebraska Pulmonary Specialties in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the time of this recording, May 20, 2020.
