2024 Commandant State of the Coast Guard Address
U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters
March 20, 2024 | 19:16
WASHINGTON — The 27th commandant of the United States Coast Guard Adm. Linda L. Fagan delivers her second State of the Coast Guard Address, Wednesday, in Washington, DC.
Adm. Fagan describes the growing demand for Coast Guard operations around the world and the Service’s unique role and capabilities as a military service, law enforcement agency, a regulatory authority, and a crisis response organization.
She discusses the Coast Guard’s role in protecting the nation’s Marine Transportation System (MTS) from physical and cybersecurity threats, and the need for the Service to address personnel gaps, maintenance, and infrastructure challenges to ensure workforce and mission readiness.
Adm. Fagan highlights improvements made to the Coast Guard’s talent management system and recruitment methods and describes ongoing efforts to strengthen Service culture. U.S. Coast Guard Video by Moses Ward/Telfair Brown
