Coast Guard rescues sailors 30 miles off Cape Hatteras, NC
U.S. Coast Guard District 5
June 4, 2012 | 0:33
A Coast Guard crew members from aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Block Island use the cutter’s small boat to aid the two sailors aboard the 49-foot sailing vessel Devil Slander after flooding damaged the sailing vessel’s electrical system, which kept the engine from starting and prevented the use of the electronic auto-furl sails June 3, 2012. Coast Guardsmen from Coast Guard Sector North Carolina, the Coast Guard Cutter Block Island, Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet, Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet, and the Coast Guard Cutter Staten Island all aided in the rescue of the two sailors aboard the Devil Slander. Coast Guard video by First Class Cadet James Lord.
