Puerto Rico Fire Department Bolsters Resilience with $5.7 Million FEMA Allocation for Hurricane Maria Recovery Efforts
Federal Emergency Management Agency
Nov. 12, 2020 | 0:59
BARCELONETA, Puerto Rico, November 12, 2020 - Puerto Rico's Fire Rescue increases resilience with $5.7 million from FEMA. FEMA allocated about $5.7 million to the Puerto Rico Fire Department as part of Hurricane Maria recovery efforts. The funds include projects to replace trucks and others to repair the physical plants where response services are provided to all types of emergencies. The allocations include $542,000 for the Barceloneta station, which was recently inaugurated after repairs were completed. Of these funds, some $17,000 went to measures to prevent similar damage in the future, such as a treatment against seepage and to strengthen the electrical system against overloads.FEMA/Eduardo Martínez
