Task Force Atterbury: Processing trauma through art therapy
Operation Allies Welcome - Operation Allies Refuge
Nov. 2, 2021 | 1:20
Jessica Buescher, a mental health counselor working with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, teaches art therapy to Afghan guests as a means to better understand trauma and promote healing during Operation Allies Welcome at Camp Atterbury, Ind., Nov. 2, 2021. Students attend these classes to channel their emotions and remember those lost to violence. This initiative provides essential support at secure locations outside of Afghanistan. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities in permanent or temporary structures as quickly as possible.
