Partners in Flame
113th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment
Aug. 1, 2016 | 1:54
The Puerto Rico Army National Guard State Partnership Program conducted a fire department management orientation Subject Mater Expert Exchange or SMEE. Fire Chiefs and Operations Managers from Dominican Republic, Honduras, Belize, El Salvador, and Haiti participated in the exchange on August 2016. This SMEE began on Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico and continued with The Puerto Rico Fire Department Academy ending in a tour of army aviation. This joint event observed training facilities, daily management, and operations used by Puerto Rico fire department agencies. These events benefit the United States and its partner nations in the USSOUTHCOM area by increasing disaster relief awareness, cooperation, responsibility, and the exchange of knowledge and methods to mitigate risks and respond to disasters.
