WaterDOG: Water Diagnostics Operations Gear
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center

WaterDOG: Water Diagnostics Operations Gear
Scientists at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Geospatial Research Laboratory in Alexandria, Virginia, have developed the Water Diagnostics Operations Gear which focuses on geo-enabling physical water quality measurement collection and data monitoring. The WaterDOG is easy-to-use and requires no special training. The WaterDOG units are small enough that they can easily be sent to customers in the field.
WaterDOG is a fully-integrated, portable, geo-enabled water sensing toolkit designed to rapidly collect, monitor and map water quality data from any water source.
With a touch-screen display, wireless transmission and dynamic readings, the WaterDOG digitally senses the water for turbidity, temperature, conductivity, pH, oxidation reduction potential, dissolved oxygen and free available chlorine.
Monitoring these parameters is necessary to certify water as potable. Immediate data can be accessed via mobile or stationary networked devices using the Retriever 1.0 software also developed by GRL’s Geospatial Sensing and Photonics Laboratory team.
The WaterDOG quickly evaluates water sources for potability, reduces errors in interpreting analog measurements, and improves overall analysis of water quality in an operational environment.
WaterDOG provides instant and accurate evaluation and reporting of water quality data in both military and civil applications and allows simultaneous monitoring of multiple water production operations from a central location.
