I Am Toure - African Immigrant participates in first Rwandan medical readiness training exercise with U.S. Army Africa
14th Public Affairs Detachment
Aug. 28, 2018 | 1:18
Spc. Ibrahim Toure, a combat medic assigned to the 28th Combat Support Hospital, is an African immigrant serving as part of MEDRETE team 18-5 in Kigali, Rwanda, Aug. 28, 2018. United States Army Africa pairs small teams of military medical professionals from the U.S. with participating African partner nations to train alongside and share best practices in trauma and surgical medicine. MEDRETE 18-5 is the first medical readiness training exercises that U.S. Army Africa facilitated within Rwanda, and serves as an opportunity for the partnered militaries to hone and strengthen their general surgery and trauma skills while reinforcing partnership between the countries. The mutually beneficial exercise brings together Rwandan military and U.S. Army medical professionals to foster cooperation while conducting medical specific tasks. (U.S. Army video by Sgt. Micah Merrill)
