In 1988 the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory incorporated the SUSV into its winter logistical-operations fleet to help evaluate: the CRREL shallow snow mobility model (CR 90-13); feasibility studies of a low speed drag plow for use in deep snow (CR 92-19); and the design and evaluation of a unique four-bar parallel linkage towing assembly for Light Infantry operations (CR 94-10).
