Opening Ceremony Forest Light
31st Marine Expeditionary Unit
Feb. 18, 2018 | 0:47
Marines with Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Marines with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines participate in the opening ceremony for exercise Forest Light alongside the Japanese Self Defense Force in Sendai, Japan, Feb. 18, 2018. Forest Light is a cold weather training exercise the Marines of 2/1 participated in, where service members with the JSDF aided the Marines in cold weather tactics and skills to enhance their knowledge of the environment at hand. Remarks were given on the exercise and how the U.S. and Japan continue to be strong military allies and how this has made joint training exercises a beneficial tool. As the Marine Corps' only continuously deployed Marine Expeditionary Unit, the 31st MEU provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide range of military operations.
