Employing a Squad Multipurpose Equipment Transport (SMET) surrogate with Screening Obscurant Modules (SOMs)
DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center
May 7, 2019 | 1:44
CCDC Ground Vehicle Systems Center has installed two Screening Obscurant Modules (SOMs) on a Squad Multipurpose Equipment Transport (SMET) surrogate. The SMET with SOM was teleoperationally-controlled from a Stryker C2 (command and control) vehicle... approximately 1 km away. This Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) vehicle has an effective line of sight (LOS) range of 1-2 km and the potential for increased range with beyond line of sight (BLOS) retransmission capability. The SMET with SOM provides obscuration, one of the Robotic and Autonomous Systems (RAS) functions assessed at the Robotic Concept at Yakima Training Center, late May and early June 2019.
