U.S. Airmen with the 36th Contingency Response Group bring in about 500,000 pounds of aid from around the world to Kathmandu, Nepal, every day. The airmen and Nepalese soldiers unload supplies May 11 at the Tribhuvan International Airport to support the international humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operation after the country was struck by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. The Nepalese Government requested the U.S. Government’s help after the earthquake. U.S. Marines from III Marine Expeditionary Force have come together with other U.S. services to form Joint Task Force 505. JTF 505 works in conjunction with USAID and the international community to provide unique capabilities to assist Nepal.
