The 18th annual Pentagon Ramadan Iftar 2016: Strength in Faith, Character in Service took place in the Pentagon Library Conference Center. Speakers include: Secretary of Defense Honorable Ash Carter, Secretary of the Army Honorable Eric Fanning, Chaplain (COL) Kenneth Williams, Pentagon chaplain and guest speaker Imam Zia Makhdoom. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, one of four holy months of the year, marked by fasting from dawn to dusk, extra prayers and self-reflection. Iftar is the breaking of the fast.
