Veterinary Services: Taking Care of Fort Stewart’s Furry Family Members
Winn Army Community Hospital
June 26, 2019 | 3:15
When a dog or cat needs professional care on Fort Stewart, Dr. Shannon Amato and her team with the Public Health Command - Atlantic, Fort Stewart branch, Veterinary Services answer the call.
The facility is responsible for providing care to privately-owned domesticated cats and dogs. Services include running a rehabilitation and adoption program for stray animals captured on post, offering a 24/7 on-call veterinary service for the 385th Military Police Battalion Military Working Dogs, and delivering food defense and food safety services for all of Fort Stewart. Photojournalist Zach Rehnstrom had a chance to follow Dr. Amato and her team of compassionate Soldiers and civilians while they take care of Fort Stewart's furry Family Members.
