210105-M-QM580-1001 INDIAN OCEAN (Jan. 5, 2021) – U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit receive ammunition prior to departing the amphibious transport dock ship USS Somerset (LPD 25) to Baledogle Military Airfield, Somalia. Somerset, part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, and the 15th MEU conduct operations under Joint Task Force – Quartz in support of OOQ. The mission of OOQ is to relocate U.S. Department of Defense forces in Somalia to other East Africa operating locations while maintaining pressure on violent extremists and supporting partner forces.
