Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany - A water frog is found on a tank training range on the Grafenwoehr Training Area. When tanks and other tracked and wheeled vehicles traverse the ranges, many small patterns are left in the ground which promote an area where several amphibians can flourish. A group of environmental professionals and managers from various training and ecological departments in the U.S. Army are touring these ranges to learn about the harmony between Army training and the ecological improvements this land has received. 33 years ago, the U.S. Army started monitoring the conditions of their training areas in Europe. Today, 77 percent of these training lands are designated flora and fauna habitat. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Christopher Robertson)
